17:30 – 18:302nd Floor Lounge
Dating has never offered more options. With dating apps, social media, and endless opportunities to connect, finding meaningful relationships should be easier than ever. Yet many people feel frustrated, confused, or exhausted by modern dating. Why? What role do dating apps, social media, changing expectations, and new technologies play in shaping our relationships? And perhaps most importantly, how might we do things differently? In this interactive discussion, we’ll investigate some of the challenges and paradoxes of modern dating. We’ll begin by looking at short-form content from platforms like Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, or other online discussions that highlight common dating experiences and frustrations. Together, we’ll examine the themes that emerge, discuss what research and real world experience can tell us about them, and workshop possible solutions. Rather than simply asking what’s wrong with modern dating, we’ll explore what healthier, more fulfilling alternatives might look like. Hosted by Greg, a social scientist with a long standing interest in relationships and dating culture, this session welcomes a variety of perspectives. Whether you’re actively dating, in a relationship, taking a break from dating, or simply curious about how dating is evolving, you’re invited to join the conversation. No dating experience required, just curiosity and an open mind. Event is free. Please buy things to support REALITY!
