We all know someone who is completely certain they're right. Sometimes, that person is us. Socrates is famously associated with the idea: “The only thing I know is that I know nothing.” The exact wording is a later paraphrase, but the idea behind it raises an uncomfortable question: What if recognizing how little we know is actually a sign of wisdom? This week at Philosophy Café, we'll explore the strange relationship between confidence, knowledge, doubt, and overconfidence. When does confidence become arrogance? Why do we trust people who sound certain? Can questioning yourself make you wiser, or can too much doubt become its own problem? And perhaps most importantly: How do you know when you're confidently right… and when you're just confidently wrong? Maybe wisdom isn't about never being wrong. Philosophy Café is an open, community-driven discussion for anyone who enjoys exploring philosophical ideas through respectful conversation. Rather than a lecture or debate, the event provides a space where participants can question assumptions, share perspectives, and think together in a spirit of curiosity
