In this edition of Dating Redesign, we’re discussing what happens when AI enters the world of online dating. AI promises to understand us better, create better matches, and perhaps even figure out what we want before we know it ourselves. But how much of that promise is actually showing up in dating apps? Is AI genuinely making online dating smarter, or is it mostly being used to generate profiles, conversations, bots, and an endless stream of AI-created slop? We’ll dig into the gap between the hype and the reality: what AI can actually do, how dating apps are using it, and what it could mean for the future of finding connection online. To make the discussion practical, we’ll test a dating app prototype created by the host and take a look under the hood at how the technology actually works. No technical or AI knowledge required.
