Join Michael and Đà Nẵng Film Forum for a screening of Joachim Trier's 2021 Norwegian film The Worst Person in the World. Julie (Renate Reinsve) is closing in on thirty and has already been several different people: a star medical student, then a psychology student, then a photographer, currently a bookstore clerk in Oslo. She lives with Aksel (Anders Danielsen Lie), a comic artist fifteen years older. He has his career, his friends, and a clear picture of the life he wants next; Julie has a shifting set of maybes. After one of his book events she slips into a stranger's wedding party, meets Eivind, and the two of them spend the rest of the night working out exactly how much they can do to each other before it counts as cheating. The film is laid out in twelve chapters with a prologue and an epilogue, and Julie is a slightly different person in nearly every one. Trier and Eskil Vogt have been writing films about Oslo and the people in it who keep starting over since Reprise in 2006. This is the third, with Danielsen Lie in all three. It's the funniest, and Reinsve won Best Actress at Cannes for it. Film Club selections are screened in their original languages and shown with both English and Vietnamese subtitles. Discussion will follow the screening. Hosted by Michael. Screening is for people 18 and older. Event is free. Please buy things to support REALITY!
