Please join Michael and Đà Nẵng Film Forum for a screening of Wes Anderson's 2009 American/British stop-motion film Fantastic Mr. Fox. Mr. Fox (George Clooney) gave up raiding poultry farms years ago, after a job went wrong and his wife told him she was pregnant. He writes a newspaper column nobody reads now, and he has decided he no longer wants to live in a hole. So he buys a tree on a hill, moves his family in, and looks down at the three farms in the valley: Boggis, Bunce and Bean, a chicken man, a duck-and-goose man, and a turkey-and-apple man who drinks only cider. Three quiet raids later, with help from the building's opossum superintendent, the farmers come back up the hill with shotguns and excavators. This was Anderson's first animated film. The puppets are covered in real fur, and because animators handled them for every frame, the coats ripple and twitch through the whole movie. He recorded the voice cast outdoors as well, on a farm, in fields, in an attic, so the dialogue scuffs and overlaps the way conversation actually does. Dahl's book runs about a hundred pages: the marriage, the sulking son, and the cousin who is good at everything all belong to Anderson and Noah Baumbach.
